CITY CULTURAL CENTER

The building from 1804 needed to be restored to its former glory and adapted to the current needs of the inhabitants of Gniezno. A project was created to modernize existing rooms, adapt previously unused spaces and add a new part. Everything with respect for the existing historical fabric and taking into account the smallest details with the help of a conservator.

It is to be a facility open to people of all ages. New spaces were created, such as a rally studio, a music rehearsal room, a ceramics and stained glass studio, workshops, an exhibition gallery, a sensory room, gymnasiums and many others.

As a result, the Municipal Cultural Center has become a modern facility, offering a wide range of activities in the areas of culture, social and educational. Thanks to appropriate architectural measures, full access to the building was enabled for the elderly and people with disabilities.

The auditorium with a capacity of 150 seats was modernized. A complicated aspect of the project was the design of the stage technology and the acoustic requirements of the hall. The new part of the building was designed as a simple shape, its form contrasting with the historical fabric, but with a façade in the color of the bricks of the historic building.

Thanks to the use of large glazing, the effect of interpenetration of modern space with the historic one was achieved. The main entrance to the building is a catalyst between history and modernity, combining three completely different styles - a building from the 9th century, a structure from the Polish People's Republic and a contemporary one.
